Emergency Resolution Alert
Commissioner Patricia Stamper (ANC 7C06) has introduced a citywide Emergency Resolution urging grocery stores receiving District subsidies to donate edible food instead of discarding it during the federal SNAP benefit halt.
This measure calls on DC agencies and Council to coordinate food recovery so that families in need, furloughed workers, and residents earning $50K or less can access good food that would otherwise go to waste.
“No family in the District should go hungry while grocery stores throw away food that’s still safe to eat.” — Commissioner Patricia Stamper
